About the Doctors
Allen Thomashefsky, M.D.
Dr. Thomashefsky is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Case Western Reserve University. He completed post-graduate medical training at Stanford University Hospital.
After spending two of his early medical career years living and working on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, he moved his family west. In Eugene, Oregon Dr. Thomashefsky managed the ER at Sacred Heart and McKenzie Willamette Hospitals and began a private practice in Family Medicine. His next move was to Santa Barbara, continuing his Family Practice while developing specialties in Sports Medicine and non-surgical Orthopedics--leading to a teaching position at the University of California at Santa Barbara in Sports Medicine.
Today Dr. Thomashefsky divides his time between two locations: in Santa Barbara, where he has practiced for more than 30 years and in Ashland, Oregon where he opened a second office in 1995. His practice of medicine now specializes in Proliferant and Regenerative Injection Therapies for the treatment of injuries. In the field of non-surgical orthopedics, Dr. Thomashefsky is well-known and regarded as regional expert with two decades of experience in the practice of R.I.T. in the western U.S.
While his reputation precedes him, his patients will tell you that Dr. Thomashefsky is appreciated as a teacher as well as an experienced physician. He listens to each patient and believes it is important to teach people about their bodies, how an injury happens, and how the body tries to compensate for an injury. Working with Dr. Thomashefsky is an educational, cooperative process in which patients are empowered to actively make choices and participate in their own healing.
Dr. Thomashefsky twice completed the Hawaii Iron Man competition. He has practiced yoga for over 20 years and more recently added pilates to his personal wellness program
